Fortis Watches

A watch enthusiast and entrepreneur, Walter Vogt, founded Fortis in 1912. By 1926, Vogt joined forces with British watchmaker John Harwood, designer of the first automatic wristwatch to venture into mass production. The 1940s saw Fortis release one of the world's first water-resistant watches, the Fortissimo. Here for more than a century, Fortis proved milestone after milestone that their timepieces can endure the extremes of land, sea, sky, and even outer space. Well known for their aviation-inspired watches or 'Fliegers', Fortis has also worked with visionary organizations such as the ROSCOSMOS, Austrian Space Forum, and Swedish Space Corporation for the testing and development of its space watches.
