IWC Top Gun Automatic Black Ceramic Black Dial Black Rubber Strap Date Mens Watch Model# IW326906 Producing its first pilot's watch in 1936, IWC has a long and excellent heritage in engineering robust tool watches, belonging to the original five companies and only Swiss manufacturer of B-Uhren watches. IWC's first pilot's watches was produced mainly for civil aviation purposes. Partnering with the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program) a.k.a. "Top Gun", a reference made hugely popular by a Hollywood movie, selecting only the most accomplished pilots for its taxing training module. This IWC Top Gun Automatic Pilot's watch features a 41 mm black ceramic case that holds a matte and textured black "Type A" dial under a scratch-resistant convex sapphire crystal. It has black and luminescent lozenge hands and white Arabic numerals and a distinct triangle with 2 dots on either side at 12 o'clock as hour markers. This minimalistic dial design allowed pilots improved legibility and easier 12 o'clock indication for both daytime and nighttime. The date aperture is located at 3 o'clock adjacent to the screw down crown while a subtle red contrast is evident via the "TOP GUN" text just above 6 o'clock. Fitted with a black rubber strap and secured by a stainless steel signed buckle which completes the durable look. This watch also features a screw down caseback inscribed with the famous TOP GUN logo wherein underneath, the IWC-manufactured caliber 32111, a Swiss automatic movement boasting 120 hours of power reserve, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is water-resistant up to 60 meters/200 feet.
